Strolling along 1st Avenue in Kitslano it’s hard to miss the bright yellow sign inviting you into Woof Dog Shoppe. 

Open the little white gate and step into a  friendly neighbourhood groomers stocked full of the highest quality raw food.

Yuki the owner and her staff will greet you with a smile and happily answer any questions. The relaxed friendly vibe is designed to keep your dog feeling good while they are styled to perfection.

After quick session to take some photos of Yuki’s dogs M& Q I asked her a couple questions about her store and the importance of the services she offers.

What made you decide to open a dog grooming shop?

I always wanted to work with dogs but didn’t know what I wanted.  I “fell” into having a grooming shop but have loved it!

Tell me a bit about the shops vibe and your team?

We try to be upbeat, easy going and helpful. A lot of our neighbours have become our friends and I think that sums it up.

What are your best tips for keeping a dogs coat and skin healthy?

Good nutrition and hygiene.

How do you believe a raw food diet contributes to a healthy coat and teeth?

Unprocessed whole food gets absorbed fully and the body utilizes more than in a processed food, hence the difference in stool.

Raw food is high in water content (almost 50%) which the organs need. The organs get hydrated like they haven’t before and there are healthier.

Can you tell me more about non anesthetic teeth cleaning and why it is important?

Dental is important just like it would be for humans.  We are “supposed” to get our teeth cleaned on top of regular brushing. 

Dogs don’t have their teeth brushed,regularly so they need the cleaning even more especially with most dogs on kibble and caned food.

What do you think is the best thing about being a dog in Vancouver?

The weather.  It is never too cold, too wet or too hot to walk your dog!
