Bright, spacious and welcoming City Paws is Vancouver’s newest pet supply store.

Located at 4578 Main Street it’s 2300 sq/ft stocked full of top of the line pet food, yummy treats and beautiful doggie apparel. The gorgeous  leather collars decorated with Swarovski crystals are stunning.

I stopped by to meet up with the  owner Shahin Dhaliwal and take some photo’s of her pretty girl Xena. Here’s a few things  Shanin had to say about her new store.

Tell me a bit about yourself and your furbabies?

I’m 23 years old and I love animals. I have lived in Vancouver my whole life and am excited to contribute to this amazing city. I have a goofy little Staffordshire mix named Xena and a big happy rescue boy named Thor.

What inspired you to start your business?

As long as I can remember I have wanted to have my own business. The inspiration really comes from the desire to do something I love while helping others. One day I want to have my own animal rescue, devoting my time to helping pets in need and making sure they find their forever homes.

Tell me about the different types of products you offer?

At City Paws we carry a variety of Canadian made food products and supplies for cats and dogs. We want to focus on carrying local products and unique items you won’t find anywhere else.

What are some of the unique products you are excited to be selling?

We carry a beautiful line of collars, leashes, and harnesses from a company called So Fetch Co. They are handmade with a variety of cotton prints. One of my favourite products in our store are the sweatshirts made by a local Vancouver artist named Erin Cooper – she designs, draws and paints them all by hand!

What is  your most popular product?

Canada Fresh, a canned food line made by a family-owned company here in the Lower Mainland. All of their ingredients are sustainably sourced, and a portion of the proceeds from every can purchased goes to the Nature Conservancy of Canada.

Describe your dreams for the future of City Paws?

I hope City Paws comes to life as a place to educate pet owners, help pets stay happy and healthy while promoting other local businesses. We would love to do info sessions and workshops to engage the community.

What do you think is the best thing about being a dog in Vancouver?

The best thing about being a dog in Vancouver is all the opportunity for adventure. Vancouver is a great place to take your dog to the beach or on a hike, and full of great pet-friendly stores to explore.
